On Summer Game Fest 2023, Focus Home Entertainment and Saber Interactive introduced John Carpenter’s Toxic Command for the first -person shooter on the SWARM Engine engine (like World War Z and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2) which will be released in 2024 for PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S | X.
John Carpenter, the famous director of horror films, fond of video games, said in his statement:
It is very nice to cooperate in creating a new video game with Focus and Saber. Listen, I really like to shoot a zombie. They constantly tell me that they are called "infected". Please. It’s ghouls, dude. They explode very well, and there are a lot of them. People will like this game".
Tim Willit, the chief creative director of Saber Interactive, said:
We are pleased to cooperate again with our friends from Focus and are very happy to cooperate with the legendary John Carpenter over this project. His unique vision, the unsurpassed experience of the narrative and the ability to create an exciting atmosphere helped us to raise this completely new experience inspired by the 80s to a new level. His work inspired us for many years, and it is a great honor for us to work with him to create a truly unforgettable adventure.
John Bert, managing director of Focus Entertainment, added:
We are pleased to unite with our historical partner Saber. After the World War Z, Space Marine 2, Insurgency, Snowrunner and many others, Toxic Commando is a new step in successful long -term relationships between Focus and Saber. We are looking forward to telling more about this new amazing game created by the talented Saber team, and to use Focus experience in turning new franchises into world hits.
The developers said that a closed beta testing would be carried out before launching the game. You can sign up for it on the official website.
